AAR/SBL 2014: Day 3

Yesterday was the first official day of AAR/SBL. It was a good one. My morning began with a panel review of Bart D. Ehrman's How Jesus Became God: The Exaltation of a Jewish Preacher from Galilee. Alongside Ehrman we heard presentations from James McGrath, Mike Bird, Dale Martin, Craig A. Evans, and Larry W. Hurtado. It was very entertaining and educational. If your connected with me on Twitter I'm sure you saw some of my commentary/summary there.

In the afternoon I attended a session on the Synoptic Gospels. The subject was "Synoptic Characters in Context: Jesus, John, Herod, the Centurion. All five papers were good, but I really enjoyed three that I found relevant to my own current thinking.

I tried to attend a third session later in the day, but I was tired, so I went to get dinner. I spent most of the day with Joshua Paul Smith and Jeremy Cushman, but I had the opportunity run into many friends and acquaintances. It was a good day.
