Paul's Use of Scripture

"Paul's negotiation of the identity of the early Jesus-follower communities through the Scriptures did not depend upon what today would be called meticulous exegesis. Paul's use of these texts comes closer to invoking them as significant handles or parameters of memory, memory about God, the faithful and events of the past, than historical source documents."
